The Bermaga Strikes Back

By ratman
[TW and AM enter RB's office. BB is present also.]
RB: Tom, Allison, what can we do for you?
Well, the word has gotten around about your attempted Galactic episode.
RB: [sarcastic] I wonder how that got out.
It's not my fault you left that tape lying around.
Anyway, we thought we'd stop by to remind you both about the ground rules.
BB: And what would those be?
The cast has creative control of this show. It's written in our contracts. You guys can't write episodes.
BB: Oh, of course. Or at least, you used to have creative control.
[angry] What's that supposed to mean?
RB: [scared] Um....
BB: Well, it appears some of your colleagues decided to renegotiate their contracts.
You mean the Scooby Doo thing? That has nothing to do with this show.
BB: Actually, it has everything to do with this show. Rick?
[RB hands TW and AM a stack of papers.]
What are these?
BB: One of the attached sections on Jon, Annette, and Erica's new contracts.
[squinting] What is this, five point font or something?
BB: I won't trouble you with the details. Basically, your fellow castmates signed over editorial rights to the episodes they co-wrote to us. And that's retroactive, too, for the whole season.
[angry] WHAT?!
RB: [cowering] Don't hurt me.
That doesn't matter. Each episode is written by two people, and none of them wrote an episode together.
BB: Well, Michael's actually pretty supportive of our ideas, which means we have three episodes under our control. And we're planning on helping Kristin get out of her contract, which means we'll get three more.
Yeah, but the cast still has....
BB: ...veto control? You need a supermajority to veto any changes, and your three compatriots signed over their veto powers too.
[sighing] So none of the changes can be vetoed.
BB: Precisely. We're working on getting legal to clear up the whole mess with Moore, after which we'll be reworking the old scripts to expand the android subplot. Which we need to get back to work on, so if you two don't mind, the door's right over there.
[TW and AM leave.]
We cannot let them do this.
Agreed. I think it's time we called a cast truce.
What good will that do? They have us by the balls.
Well, actually John and I have been working on a plan. It's a bit extreme, though.
Does it involve brownies?
Well -
I don't care. I'm in.
Good! So this is how it works....
