You know what would be cool?
Please spare us.
You know what Michael? You might even like this.
[Rolls his eyes.] Yeah, right.
If we could shift the Clark/Fine interaction up in this episode so that once he's destroyed Fine he zips to the restaurant to check on Chloe.
It's always about Chloe, isn't it?
What's so cool about that?
We're not to the cool part yet. We arrange the table so it's just like Clark's dream from a couple episodes ago. Oliver will have taken a call so it's just the other three. It's right after Lana asked what happened to Clark. As Clark arrives Lex is asking Chloe, "Clark, why doesn't he trust us?"
[A little too excited] And then Lana says "Does he want to be alone the rest of his life? Eventually he's going to have to trust somebody."
[Looks at TW, mouth agape.]
Right! Finally Chloe says "I used to think it was going to be me." She looks down more regretfully than sad, "Why can't he let go?"
[Stands to act it out] Clark frowns. He takes a step towards them and then sees Oliver returning to the table. He stops for a second. Chloe looks back up and he zips away.
[AM puts her hands to her chest] Chloe smiles a little. She saw Clark out of the corner of her eye. Lana asks her is she's OK. "Yes, I am."
That's corny as hell.
I think it's sweet.
I think you're in love with your own amateurish writing. There's no way we're going to throw off the pacing of an entire episode to include that piece of crap!
This isn't your episode, Michael.
[Pleading] For the love of God tell me you're not going to throw off the pacing of an entire episode to do that!
I kind of like it.
Tom, back me up here!
[Hurt] That's my amateurish writing too.
Damn your ego, man! Think about the show!
[Looks away]
[Desperate now] John?
JR: [JG waves his hands] Leave me out of it. [MR looks at AoT. She shakes her head]
[Disbelieving] Have you all lost your minds?
It will look like we plan far ahead.
It will look like we recycle bad dialog when we can't think of anything creative to say.
By creative you mean something along the lines of naked exploding women?
[Defensive] Actually I think that's pretty damn creative, thank you very much.
Thanks for the suggestion Allison, we'll think about it.
You know what's great about naked exploding women? They'll fit in anywhere! You don't have to throw off the pacing of an episode to squeeze them in!
They'll fit in anywhere? Even a barn scene?
Are you kidding? A few exploding women might actually make a barn scene tolerable! [Stares down KK] Especially if the exploding woman was Lana.
[Gasps then looks expectantly at KK]
[Glares at MR] OK, that does it! Consider the scene added.
[puts his head in his hands.]
[Pats MR on the back.] Aw, with enemies like you who needs friends?
Don't touch me, you shrew.
At least it's not a chick flick scene.
Speaking of which...
[Sits back up] Wait!
[Everyone stares]
I have a better idea, dancing!
KK, ED, AM, &
Dancing?
Dancing. There's dancing at the restaurant...
It's not 80's music is it?
No. This is upscale, the Tango. Lex asks Lana to dance and of course she accepts.
She's still pissed at him for accusing her of blabbing to Chloe.
And he's still not convinced it wasn't her who leaked the documents. It's very tense-- it's the Tango. Oliver asks Chloe to dance and she accepts.
She wants to know what he was doing at level 33.1
Oliver is evasive. A new dance starts, he cuts in on Lex and Lana.
Left to themselves Lex and Chloe reluctantly begin dancing. He tries to figure out where she got the information.
She promises again it wasn't Lana but accidentally gives just enough information for Lex to guess Clark was involved. Lex dips Chloe, "So you don't know who it came from."
Chloe has no answer. Lex pulls her back up. She looks towards Oliver.
Cut back to Lana.
Of course.
Oliver asks what she sees in Lex. He's someone she can trust.
Oliver suggests perhaps she isn't seeing the real Lex Luthor.
What does Oliver see in Chloe?
An equal.
What? No!
An opportunity?
Better.
Oliver knows whatever he says will get back to Chloe. Equal is best.
Agreed.
What he sees must be a mirage!
He sees a challenge!
[offended] Chloe's not a challenge?
Not the kind of challenge he expects.
[cautious] What exactly does he expect?
Sex!
No, a comrade in arms.
Against who, Lex?
Against evil.
Oh, she'll be a pushover for that.
Exactly, so he sees in her as challenge.
He's the Green Arrow. He sees "a challenging mark."
Perfect.
You don't think that would offend Chloe more than an "opportunity"?
Shut up!
The music ends. They return to the table.
But Oliver has to take a call.
Lex says to Chloe, "Clark, why..."
No!
"... doesn't he trust us?"
[Emphatic] No!
Excellent idea, Michael. Thank you so much!
I'm not going to do that scene. It doesn't fit. It's stupid.
It's in the script.
If I had hair I'd be pulling it out right now.
