Prologue Part I
Original TwoP air date 6.7.2006
OK, cast, we’re here. What’s this “thing” you wanted to show us.
It’d better be good because otherwise I’d been in Cancun slinging back Coronas right now.
Well, you wanted an outline for season six, right?
Good God, man, you haven’t already done that have you, the whole season? I didn’t plan on even figuring out how Clark was going to get out of the phantom zone until after the break.
Which in and of itself explains a lot. But we figured if we could get this monkey off our backs and then we might actually be able to enjoy our time off.
I see. Well, we hadn’t even shared the criteria for a SV season with you yet. I hate that all your work was for nothing, but….
Wait. Just name your criteria – I’m sure it’s in our plan.
Really?
Really.
[creepily flirtatious] Care to make a little wager on that, Kristen?
[coolly] With anyone but you two I might be tempted. Just give us the list, OK?
OK. Kryptonian linked year long arc?
If you mean a contrived plot device that’s supposed to make us think Kryptonians have been on Earth for thousands of years, check.
Hmm... Chloe get a bit of character development?
If by development you mean there’s a lot of pain and suffering, Check.
She doesn’t come out a winner does she?
[sigh] Kind of. But it’s only after a lot of undeserved pain a suffering.
If there’s enough pain and suffering we might let that go. Lois gets developed?
If by development you mean she continues to get even higher profile jobs handed to her, check, and double check!
But not more important than the things handed to Lana?
Of course not! Plus there will be plenty of Lana pimpage.
[starting to warm up to the idea] Nobody can tell what Lionel is really up to?
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Clark beats himself up over having powers and responsibility?
It wouldn’t be SV otherwise.
Lana comes out of the Lex relationship smelling like a rose?
It’s 90% Lex’s fault.
Only 90% you say? [Frowns] That could be a deal breaker.
We can work on that. After all, the fault all lies in the eye of the beholder. As long as nobody says it’s Lana’s fault it’s can’t be her fault, right?
Hmmm, perhaps. Mini arcs?
Yes, one where Chloe almost gets fired. That’s part of the pain and suffering.
Only part, eh? Cool. But make sure she does get fired and has to grovel to get rehired again.
[annoyed] Right, boss.
And Lois has a stint working for Lionel.
Al, we need to check to see if DC is OK with that.
I thought Lex and Clark were the ones they had restrictions on Lois interaction.
Actually, I think they kind of make up the restrictions as they go, personally I don’t care what the restrictions are as long as we have Lois wearing skimpy outfits. What about Martha?
Torn between her little boy and her bad boy suitor. She starts to hide more and more of her actions from her son.
Excellent. What about guest DC appearances?
There is room for a couple. We’re counting on Green Arrow for sure.
No batman?
Look, we’re not delusional, like they’re going to let you guys get your hands on Batman! There’s no reason to get our hopes up.
Don’t forget, Michael, we are the boss. We may not fire you but even worse we can make you shave your chest week after week after week.
Not if I eat enough pie.
That might have worked for Tom, but Luthor doesn’t have to look buff. And if you don’t look buff you’ll only be hurting your fans, not us.
Anyway, I suppose we could take a look at what you all have put together.
[elbows Al in the ribs] I don’t know
What, you can’t look at a lousy outline?
[exasperated] Oh, all right.
Here you go. [Hands copies to Al and Miles]
Al
Thanks. [Camera follows them as they leave]
What’s the big idea, Al?
What do you mean?
Now I’ve got to read this crap on vacation?
Yeah, right. You think I’m going to touch this before the break is over?
Ahhh. You had me going there for a minute.
I’ve got a new cell phone so I know they won’t be able to bug me about what I think. It’s nice to know the cast still has spirit though, isn’t it?
They are pretty resilient. I thought season four would have crushed it.
