Prologue Part II
Original TwoP air date 6.9.2006
[Cancun Beach, Al & Miles sitting in beach chairs on the coast with a cooler full of Corona's between them.]
It’s a shame.
What?
That they didn’t pick up Aquaman. We could have been out here everyday instead of rainy Vancouver.
That does suck.
On the bright side we don’t have to get a bunch of scripts ready.
Oh, that reminds me. [Pulls out cell phone and speed dials]
Hey, Tom. How’s it going?
Great. Anyway, I looked your plan and we’ve got a big problem.
You didn’t factor in John’s replacement.
You didn’t know we were going to replace him? What are you an idiot? I course we will!
No, I don’t know who it’s going to be. We haven’t cast yet.
No, we haven’t decided on a character either.
What? Hold on. [cover’s the mouth piece] Get this Miles, Tom wants to bring Sam back on board!
Ha!
No, I don’t think that will work out.
No, I don’t know how you’re supposed to write scripts without knowing the cast. That’s why we hadn’t started yet.
Well, think of it as good practice.
Paid? Ha! Good try. Talk to you later Tom. [closes his phone] That Tom's a good kid, but sometimes he can get a little pissy.
[Few seconds pause. Al & Miles intently watch an attractive woman watch past them]
You know, we don’t have to hire a replacement.
No?
In fact with the cost of the show going up maybe that money would be better used for stuff like sets and special effects.
Hmm. I think you have a point. Besides we’d probably have to hire a male so the screen tests wouldn’t be nearly as fun.
I think we should keep the status quo.
Sounds good to me. Beer?
Thanks.
[Al hands him a beer]
[Pause]
I thought you we’re going to read that crap until we were off vacation.
Oh, that chick at the bar finally just told me to get lost last night and Desperate Housewives was a rerun.
Well, at least you didn’t read it sober. So that girl hadn’t heard of Smallville?
Oh, she had. But when she found out Tom was married that was pretty much the end of the line for me.
Speaking of which, are you going to call him and let him know we may be able to use their scripts after all?
I think I’ll let him stew for a while.
[They watch the waves for a while]
Do you think having the actors write their own stuff is a bad idea.
Probably.
[More surf watch]
But it’s certainly not the worst idea we’ve ever had.
You’ve got that right.
[pause]
I noticed they didn't seem to have set up many mind wammie episodes. Fans love that stuff.
Would you shut the hell, up? We're on vacation for Pete's sake! We can force them to do as many mind wammie episodes as we want when we get back.
No near death experiences.
Do I have to hit you over the head. Let it go!
[Notices another attractive woman walking towards them] OK. Hey, she might make a great freak of the week.
Hey Miss! Yes, you. Ever heard of the television show Smallville?
